Team Mundell for Bloomfield
Our Values
in Action
We don't just talk about what we believe, we put it to work. Here's what we've done, and what we're still doing, for Bloomfield.
Transparency
Enhanced Town Communications
We believe in transparency — so we built the infrastructure to back it up.
We responded to resident concerns about communications by directing real resources toward improving the ways the township shares information. We engaged residents through surveys and built a communications infrastructure informed by that response — including Spanish-language translations to reach more of our community.
Engagement numbers have grown, and we will continue seeking input as we keep enhancing our methods. We also launched the Mayor's Information Series to help residents understand more about how our government works and what informs our decisions.
Fiscal Stewardship
Stability Without Losing Services
We did a deep dive into Bloomfield's budget — and we made the hard calls.
Times are tough, and they will likely get tougher. But we remain focused on stability without loss of service. We found a way to pay for renovations to the Children's Library without issuing new debt. Last year, we cut $2.5 million in operating expenses.
This year we have kept township operating expenses relatively flat — even as costs outside our control have risen, including pension obligations, health insurance, contractual obligations, and sewer charges.
As we face significant challenges meeting our budgetary obligations, we are exploring new ways to account for revenue — like the proposed sewer charge changes aimed at a more equitable distribution of costs. We are having the tough conversations with you. Keep an eye out for more information on the proposed sewer changes and our budget, and how you can have a voice.
Inclusive Leadership
Lifting Up the Diverse Voices Who Reflect Our Population
The town council isn't the only decision-making body in Bloomfield — and it shouldn't be the only one that looks like Bloomfield.
We have 25 boards and commissions comprising more than 125 appointed members who either engage in regulatory decisions or help advise us on the ways in which we want Bloomfield to grow and thrive. Under our administration, we have ensured the people sitting in these roles genuinely reflect the diverse community in which we all live.

Economic Development
Driving Economic Opportunity for Bloomfield Businesses
We're positioning Bloomfield to capture the opportunities in front of us — including a $6 billion one.
We hosted a World Cup Information Session for small businesses in Bloomfield and developed a dedicated webpage to help local businesses take advantage of the $6 billion opportunity coming to New Jersey.
We are rezoning and making changes to our business districts based on our award-winning master plan. We are also exploring the efficacy of our existing Business Improvement District (BID), known as the BCA, and considering ways to ensure all of our business districts get the attention they deserve — not just some of them.
Smart Development
Growth That Works for Bloomfield — Not Just Developers
We're making sure development in Bloomfield meets a higher standard.
We recently passed a Green Checklist Ordinance, which is now required of all developers in their applications for approval to the township. It encourages developers to engage in environmentally sustainable and friendly practices — not as a suggestion, but as a requirement.
We also recently negotiated an agreement with a developer that will bring 25 more units of affordable housing to Bloomfield.
